Calves are being born all across the ranchland. This is the time of year that we are seeing the fruit of our labor make their appearance. We care for the cow carefully so that she may be fruitful and multiply. God gave those instructions to us from the very beginning. Do you think He was just saying go make babies? I think He meant for us to reproduce Godly people. The New Testament speaks of the "fruit of the Spirit." For the Spirit to reproduce fruit in our lives, we need to nurture the Spirit as we nurture our livestock. To feed and shelter the Spirit would be like caring for the mama cow; fruit in our lives will follow as the birth of a calf follows sound management practices. When we have a healthy relationship with the Spirit, our lives will be fruitful as a result of our walk with Him. Well have yourselves a good Sunday morning, and a great rest of the week.

Shortgrass, thanks for the powerful reminder presented in such subtle and humble fashion.

Thanks for that insight, Shortgrass. For a rancher, there is nothing that compares with watching a herd of healthy young calves frolic and play on a beautiful spring day. Thanks to God for making it possible for us to enjoy, and giving us a front row seat each calving season.

From a mothers and a ranchers point of view it's nice to see the kids and calves play. Nothing quite like watching the next generation out there helping make the ranch run.
