We capture and branded calves today. The crew showed up a little before 10 this morning. Getting them gathered took longer than we thought it would. It appears that about 15 pairs found a hole in the fence. They went on to the BLM and down into a hole. But we had enough people horse back to get them back where they belong. So once in the corral we sorted and worked 80 calves. A brand, fly tag, Ultrabac 8, Bova Shield, Nasalgen PMH, and cut half a dozen that got missed when young. Had a break for lunch my wife prepares. Hamburgers, chili, macaroni salad, peach cobbler, and a large stack of cookies. 14 assorted adults and 8 kids. 10 trailer loads hauled about 20 miles round trip to summer pasture. I got done and into the house at 4:10. No cows on my place now until late August.
