As you know, a while back I was so excited to finally find a feedstore that carried Vigortone mineral, and it was right here within 10 miles. Well Monday while at that feed store, I knew I needed somemore mineral. As I walked thru the back, I noticed that where the Vigortone had previously been stacked, there was a similar brown bag, but it had the store name on there..."B&B Cow/Calf Mineral is what it says. I immediately got upset that the Vigortone was gone. But upon inspectin the bag tag, what did I find, but a very small (lil bigger than 1/4 inch) triple V emblem in the lower left hand corner of the tag, along with Manufactured by North American Nutrition Companies, Inc.
My question is, has Vigortone gone to baggin mineral with Store Labels on it? I've checked their website, and no where on there can I find the Guaranteed Analysis breakdown on any of their mineral. So I can compare and see if this is 32S or what kind it is. (dummy me I didnt keep the tag off of any of the other bags, cuz I wasn't expectin to have a switch like this) I will tell you tho......this is $11.75 a bag, where the bag that said Vigortone in big black letters, was $19.95. It looks the same when you dump it out. But I only bought one bag to put out, and wanted to ask you first if what I"m thinkin is right and they are just printin bags with the store name on it. ???

Maybe some of you other folks have run across this too???

Gosh, JL, I don't have the answer. But if there is the "Triple V' somewhere on the tag, it has a Vigortone connection.

I'll send your question to the powers that be, and see what I find out.

Progressive Nutrition uses Vigortone mineral in their product, but I don't know about this B&B stuff.

Jersey, My mineral still comes in the Vigortone bag and also has Summitville Grain (my feed store) on the tag. Summitville Grain Ultra Mag. Under feeding directions it says to feed Summitville Grain Ultra Mag to cattle at all times, so forth and so on then at the bottom it says Manufactured for Summitville Grain. This is VT high mag mineral and it is still in the green VT bag. I hope that you are getting plenty of rain. It is as dry here in southern middle TN as I have ever seen it (30 years). My grandaddy is 89 and says this is the driest it has been in his lifetime. I have been hauling water for 3 months because the ponds are DRY. Have a good day! Clay in so mid TN

I am under the assumption that it is illegal to sell mineral, or any type of livestock feed w/o the analysis on the bag, no matter the name or manufacturer on the bag. Even custom blends must have the analysis on the bag.

Something doesn't smell right here. Shenanigans of this type is what helped to spread BSE, ie, using mammalian protein.

I would be pretty leery of patronizing this store. They should be as aware of the laws as anybody else. If they are not, their supplier should be.

I take that statement Lilly made about the tag to also mean a label.....The part where it is $8.00 cheaper tells me it is not the same product,

Ya'll are totally misunderstanding what I was tryin to say. It has a Guaranteed Analysis tag on the bag. I didnt keep a tag from a previous Vigortone bag to compare the two for myself. And I looked on Vigortone's website tryin to find their guaranteed analysis, and it doesn't have that listed or any of it's different blends, so that I can compare.
Basically what I was askin is, "Is Vigortone baggin mineral for Feedstores with the Feedstore name on it" Faster horses is checkin into it for me to find out. I in no way think this feedstore is doin anything illegal at all. They've been in business for EVER.
The analysys tag also has the emblem that this product is produced in a facility participating in the American Feed Industry Associations Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program, along with the Triple V Vigortone emblem.

Wish I could scan the tag and just post that.

Well I wish I could buy the 32-S without buying a ton at the time. The coop won't stock it and the local feed store won't sell it if it don't come from Nutrna. And the last thing I need to do is be a dealer.
I wonder if we can get Wal-mart to stock it.

Heck i have to buy 5 ton to get a drop close by and still haul it 25 miles home and unload and restack it.

There must be quite a markup on mineral-- because I saw where a Billings Big R was selling Cargill's Right Now mineral at $14.00 bag-- one bag or a ton it didn't matter....The last time I bought Right Now was a couple years ago - and I think it was $18 bag then--probably couple bucks higher by now....

Just a trailer to get folks to the store-- but I'm sure they weren't losing anything either......

Our building where we store salt, mineral, and other feed isn't tall enough to be "forklift friendly." We are lucky though, because the Vigortone truck backs right up to this building, puts a ramp from the truck down to the shop floor, and the trucker uses a handcart to unload the product ten sacks at a time. Even if one of us is on hand and available to help, there is nothing for us to do. The trucker usually makes short work of unloading a few tons.

They are good at it, aren't they, Soapweed. I'll pass your comments along. Never hurts for those hard-working truckers to get a pat on the back. And that's how I first heard about Vigortone's Quality Control
being second to none---many moons ago from the truckers that haul out of there.

Nothing that goes out of that plant ever goes back. Nothing.
The dog food contains no ruminent ingredients, due to the fact that it is stored with the mineral and Vigortone's Quality Control is of the very highest.

All the mineral I sell is delivered the way Soapweed gets his, except for one customer that bought a Vigorbin and he gets his mineral bulk. He uses a cake feeder with troughs out in his pastures. He goes under the bin, loads the cake feeder and drives out and puts the mineral in the
troughs without lifting a pound. I'm going to be going there next week,
perhaps I can get a picture.

Some dealers still get the mineral in pallets and unload with a pallet fork.
We've never done that, but it sure works good if you are set up for it.

I really like their mineral but thats where it end's for me.

I was set up to be a dealer here which I still am only problem is I had a New customer buy from me in June he has more cow's and background's calves so my Rep's figured they would set him up as a dealer 15 miles away. He's closer to my other customer's so now they are buying from him as it's closer. When my mineral run's out I will be looking else where the getting humped feeling does'nt sit well with me.They said I should get some sort of commission from his sales but that has'nt happened. My rep keeps coming to get mineral and want's it for what I paid in june well it's my money tied up and the price has risen $2 per bag since then they can get bent.So for me all the time and leg work was a total waste of time I most likely will switch brands pretty soon.I have had a few smaller customer's call for mineral and I've sent them to the local feed store.

That not fair. They should have let have some territory instead of pirating your customers.

I sold stock trailers for a company once and I would see new trailers show up close by that the manufacturer sold out the back door of the factory as "Seconds" bypassing the dealers that had trailers in stock. I didn't stay with them for long either.
