[Faster horses]

We have too many greedy realtors here. Sheridan is turning into Jackson Hole. Traffic is terrible. Sheridan was never meant to have this many people. The streets in this town were never really laid out, just went by main wagon wheel traffic. It really is a mess.

A horse trainer friend of ours lived and trained near Aubrey Texas. He has since moved because it was getting ridiculous. Took 30 minutes just to be able to pull out on the highway. Now that is happening where he moved to. We feel that here in NE WY,
too many people. Where did ALL these people come from?

And Wyoming is the least populated state. Has about 6 people per square mile. Oregon has about 44.

We just get a day pass and don't go to the big higher pried shows. H told me his last one is one is on Saturday and it is just a day pass show. We are thinking of going down on Friday after I feed. Get there around 2:00. See whatever we can see that afternoon and evening. Leave Saturday afternoon. Edna's daughter and SIL have a ranch in McDermitt. Stop and spend the night. Get out of there in the late morning. 3 hour drive home. Get home while it is still light out to feed the cows. Of course it is depending on weather and roads. Why they have the show in the middle of the winter is something I question on occasions.

H must be doing Sat. open mic. That is great and hopefully the roads will be great. I went down one year after it started and the drive down was perfect. The trip home ( Baker) was a nightmare even with studded tires. Too many crazy drivers. We made it but it was slick and slow.

Yeah. Well, that's changing.
Actually, it's the infrastructure that makes it bad. We just aren't set up for an influx of people.
We have so MANY new subdivisions and the realtors want more. Low-income housing hasn't materialized, even though they are being bought up, but I don't think by low-income people. There are help wanted signs just about in every business. No one wants to work. I see a lot of older people waiting on the public instead of college-aged kids; we have a Community College in Sheridan. People get a job and then don't show up for work...some restaurants have had to cut hours because they can't find help. People are RUDE, drivers are RUDE and always in a hurry. But, we are too old to move, so END OF RANT. If you can't change it, then just shut up (I tell myself). We are blessed to live here at the foot of the Big Horn mountains. You can't see anything but land out our kitchen window and that will not change in the foreseeable future as a big ranch has bought the neighbors place. So we see haying in the summer, cows the rest of the time. Suits us just fine!!! They have the best equipment, man, can they harvest a big hayfield in record time.

Depends on which part of Oregon you live in. This county has about 5.2 people per square mile. There are some over populated parts in western Oregon that I won't go to even if I was paid to go there.

Those numbers are just an overall average of the states. I can not image what the average is in some parts of western Oregon.
But there are areas that are definitely overstocked.

The only traffic jam we were ever in, was in Portland, Oregon. I never hope to go there again. We have friends who lived near Battle Ground and Yacolt, we were there with them. NEVER would we attempt to drive in Portland on our own.

I was at a Bible study a month or so ago. Someone said he was going to Portland later that week. We all agreed that we should pray for him.

Coming from the east to Battle Ground I would cross the river and drive on Hwy 14 on the Washington side. You still hit the shoulder of Vancouver but at least it isn't Portland.

I agree with him. Subtract the 10,000 people who live in Baker City and are at about 1 person for every 2 square miles. In the 5 miles between here and the post office there is a grand total of 11 people. Three couples with 5 kids ages 13 to 2. Go west it is 15 miles on the road to the next people. I often forget to look when pulling out of my driveway.

Harney county Oregon is geographically bigger than the 6 smallest states. There is ).73 people per square mile. And about 60% of the population lives in the two incorporated towns in the county (Burns-Hines) which pretty much connected. A lot of distance between people.
