Question on seeding alfalfa into grass stand

short and sweet method: broadcast some alfalfa--THEN--(you want the hoof action) put as many cows on it as you can find and eat grass to the dirt as quick as you can. cows off, water on. I'd maybe use an older variety that would hang in there, like ladak.

    What would you do???????

If he's out by the 20th, he for sure owes you 5 days. Say a dollar a day, 90 hd, 450$. The rest is arguable. I'd talk to the cow owner, say what I think is right, listen to what he thinks is right. Give him an opportunity to do the right thing. Then it's on him. My life is getting too...

    Grazing legume forage

What would consumer say about laundry detergent? Well, they might notice you don't have to get it through a vet--unlike yours. So--might make you fart bubbles but pwobry not. Might also notice it was mentioned by a producer--not a guy with 4 posts who came on here asking a question but maybe...

    Grazing legume forage

as I understand frothy bloat, it has big bubbles that a cow can't belch or pass. and kills by asphyxiation. bloat guard, etal, breaks these bubbles down. We use laundry soap, get one w/o bleach, to do the same thing. 1/2 cup per 50# loose salt is rec'd, so--natcherly--we use a cup. to work...

    Cloud seeding approved in Wyoming

they were experimenting with this in '64. The neighbor lady had one, was supposed to turn it on for so long, then off for so long. In early june a weather system stalled out between glacier park and hi way 200, about 100+ miles south. It dumped 14" of rain in 24 hours, on a heavy snowpack. A...

Oat hay and other spring cash crop thoughts. Do U feed oats

My experience---peas like it early, they like it wet/cool, they need specific inoculant, they add pods till cut, can only use certain weed sprays, by time stems are dry the rest likes to shatter I seeded a bag about a mo ago into stubble--my 'agronimist' wanted to try them, figgers if it works...

Can you help me as a new land owner - how do hay leases work

Location is very important--we figure 3 to 5 acres, per pair, per mo on summer grazing. I'd put up any hay offered, that was worth cutting, for no more than half and be glad to get it. I've got friends other places that talk cows per acre and basically never get done haying, they just quit...

    Fertilizing hay fields

My father in law had some crested that was old farm ground, formerly strips that you could still see. He started seeding sweet clover into every other strip, and hayed the other 50% of strips that he'd seeded the yr before. Said he got about same amount of hay and only had to go over half as...
