Christian poetry written by a cowboy

Sounded very appropriate, over here, in Nebraska. I resemble the remarks myself, thanks H.

What's the weather like at your place?

Our cool down was dry also, but it sure makes shop work more comfortable. Some neighbors happy, some grumpy, we're kinda used to it.

Trying to get the neighbor's hay baled

He and I have been pecking away at his third cutting, rolled a few this morning. Big clouds with a SW breeze toughened it about 7:15 this evening. He had the rake running, I started to bale. His wife came to rake so both balers could get after it, everyone got about a round done when the...

Fish Wildfire burns at 0% containment near Sundance, Wyoming

Our area had one light up Saturday afternoon, kinda took the fun out of setting out front with the neighbors to watch the smoke plume blow up. I saw some video of the one up your way on You Tube. A bunch more rough terrain where that is. Dry lightning fired the one down this way. That's a...

    Grand Champion Lamb

Yep, what H said. Been paying attention would be my guess, fine looking young lady. Nice market lamb to boot. You win showmanship, you are in the driver's seat. Congrats

I remembered your loss when I woke up yesterday. I couldn't remember how long ago, guess it happened on my 44th birthday. I think of it every year, you will always have my kind thoughts and condolences Jody.

    Hay down

It is a shame Webfoot. Haying here is a a hunt and peck process this year so far, at least we're saving money on net wrap. I rolled 14 bales off 8 acres of grass this afternoon but it's just subirrigated. No wet tires in the process. Dry land alfalfa making a bale every 5 acres, irrigated a...

    Bovine biography

Exactly what Faster said, those cows are slick and the calves are growing. Kinda like ruminants were designed to do...

What's the weather like at your place?

We haven't had big hail, just the shotgun smaller stuff. Very little wheat or sugar beets left, corn is knocked way back. Some grass hailed flat and turning white just like the wheat, lots of late beans getting planted, the surrounding areas the grass looks good. Grass hay will be a decent...

    Lost a legend. 😢

Yep, very fitting tribute. Any of you remember him talking about a junior high girls basketball game? I still laugh about that analogy!

    Lost a legend. 😢

He made us laugh at ourselves, cause I guess we do funny things once in a while. I remember reading "On the edge of common sense" and Lee Pitts column in the Record Stockman in the '80s. Have two autographed books that will never be for sale.

    After Ranching, Then What?

I don't want to wade into an argument, but as to the original question, my answer is, on the box plan. As in when they close the lid on mine, meanwhile I think I've been retired for a long time.

What's the weather like at your place?

Same rain leaked into the Nebraska panhandle, around 3 inches here also. Just a good soaking rain we haven't seen since '18. More than last year's total right here. Not a minute too soon, might be too late to help some of the wheat. Doesn't cure the drought but sure will help the grass last...

    Poem from Dad

H, I still have that bronc to saddle. What a fitting tribute. Not a lot of Dad's make 89 and chugging along, I am blessed.

What's the weather like at your place?

Amen, Webfoot. We are in the country blessed with dry wind and plenty of it, I'm hoping someplace gets enough rain to summer all the pairs that will be sold here. We have avoided fires here locally, so far. Seems like forever since the spring of '19 when we nearly drowned. I keep remembering...

    Prayers for Soapweed

We never met in person, but my brother fed a lot of bulls he used and my nephew found him a gentle horse to ride after his bout with West Nile. Short Grass is right..

    Patty ain't scared

We got home latish about 6 weeks ago to discover that Stella had her first encounter with a skunk. The only time we regretted the dog door and her most recent bath, the house aired out in a couple days...

    Sorry for the outbreak

I read where the Oregon National Guard is being activated to combat the Corone, seriously there are only 667 ICU beds in your state? I hope they're good shots, I imagine a virus bug is a pretty small target...

    My old picture and story

I thought probably so, thanks. My 30-30 is a Marlin so it will take a while to be that cool. The only Winchesters I recognize have octagon barrels, the CF stands for center-fire I believe.

    My old picture and story

A wonderful story about a simpler time. I'm grateful there are still some simple places, usually good deer habitat. What caliber is the rifle, I don't recognize it, but Winchester?
