STEAK PIZZAIOLA
Combine steak and pasta with the flavours of pizza, and you’re
guaranteed to satisfy your family’s cravings.
1 lb Sirloin Steak
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 tsp dried oregano
3 cups uncooked broad noodles
1 can (14 oz) chunky pasta style stewed tomatoes
1 green pepper, diced
¼ cup shredded part-skim Mozzarella (or grated Parmesan cheese)
Trim fat from steak. Cut across the grain into ¼ inch thick strips.
Heat a large, oiled skillet over high heat; stir-fry meat for about
2 minutes or until browned but still pink inside. Remove meat from pan.
Reduce heat to medium. Add mushrooms and oregano. Cook for about 5 minutes,
stirring often. Meanwhile prepare noodles according to package directions.
Stir in stewed tomatoes and green pepper into mushrooms; bring to boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Season to taste with salt and pepper. Return meat and any accumulated
juices to pan; stir until coated. Serve sprinkled with Mozzarella or
Parmesan cheese and garnished with black olives, if desired.
Makes 4 servings.
TIP: In a big rush? Use pre-cut sirloin stir-fry strips and canned
mushrooms.
