Homestyle Cabbage

1 head cabbage -- shredded
2 pounds ham hocks
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon red vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pepper

Bring water to a boil and add all ingredients. Cover and stir occasionally. Cook until cabbage is tender. Additional water may be added as needed. Cook over low heat about 25 minutes.
