how can you tell?

Post by cure » Fri Apr 15, 2011 2:33 pm

After reading some of the posts on here and personally have my own melt down with a vet supply outfit the other day I realized I am not alone when it comes to peggin the fun meter after calving season is almost over. We seem to have short fuses and ill tempers. So I thought I would try to put some hummer in your grumpy butts by asking the question how can you tell it is calving season?
1. Someone gets offened by being called a farmer :-)
2. There are posts on here at 1 in the morning
3. The cameras come out and there are lots of pictures of new babies
4. We complain about everything and anyone

Lets ride

It's just a case of the wintertime blues and "calvin' fever." Sunshine, green grass, and spring rains are the only known cure, cure.

Helps to do this a little Hanky Williams style.

Woke up this mornin'
There was no way out
I told my wife
That I would look about
and get the calvin' pen blues
Lord, the calvin' pen blues
Well Lord I got 'em
I got the cAaAlvin pen blues

Well I checked in every
hidin' place around
This winter weather's
really got me down
I got the calvin' pen blues
Yeah, the calvin' pen blues
Oh Lawd I got 'em
I got the cAaAlvin' pen blues

Well I spent my money
On every drug to use
Keepin' calves alive
Is more like child abuse
The jumpin' calvin' pen blues
Aww the calvin pen blues
Aww Lord I got 'em,
I got the cAaAlvin' pen blues

Well the bulls
Go out a little later each spring
Just a wishin'
For a bloody end to bring
The sleepy calvin' pen blues
Yeah the calvin' pen blues
Aww Lord I got 'em
I got the CAaAlvin' pen blues

Thank you, thank you very much.

I don't even have an excuse for being up at this time of night.

Calves should start coming in about 3 and 1/2 weeks.

Just hoping the middle of May is somewhat pleasant.

For good or bad, Ol Waymore did change country music. I still can listen to him all day long. For an Ahole, Hank Jr. made a lot of good songs also.

I just bought the DVD, "Nashville Rebel", starring Waylon
Jennings. We saw that movie
years ago and really enjoyed it. We happened to remember about
it and I found it at amazon. He is one of our most favorite singers,
too.

As for Hank Williams, Jr. I was never too much of a fan, UNTIL
some friends of ours in SW Mt. through some of their friends in
the Big Hole, had him come to the Moose Lodge
for a private party, of sorts. He can play anything; he's truly a
great musician. I know his private life has been chaotic, and of
his own choosing, but I sure do respect him as a musician. We'd
never heard anything like what we got to listen to that night.
