Could it be the digging is getting close to hitting paydirt- and she is jumping ship now in hopes the digging will stop- and not entangle her (and possibly other important/rich folks ) in much deeper doodoo....
The total Alaska political scheme has been deeply mired in a stinkhole of corruption for several years...

The announcement caught even current and former Palin advisers by surprise. Former members of the John McCain campaign team, now dispersed across the country, traded perplexed e-mails and phone calls.
Personal pressures have been mounting - scrutiny on her family, legal bills, ethics investigations and a running, public fued with McCain's camp that has flared up again

Palin expressed frustration with her role as governor.
"I cannot stand here as your governor and allow the millions of dollars and all that time go to waste just so I can hold the title of governor," Palin said, referring to the alleged impact of multiple ethics complaints against her, most of which have been dismissed.
Palin has the potential to make far more money in the private sector than the $125,000 or so she has been making as governor.
Palin already had a deal with publisher HarperCollins to produce her memoir, with publication planned for next spring. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Six-figure book deals are common for high-profile political figures. |

Oh come on Oldtimer if there was anything in the State of Alaska to bring her down your leftwing nut jobs would have found it by now and if you think the digging will stop you are stupider than I thought. She didn't say she was dropping out of politics she said she was going to she her eye on the ball and be a team player and make sure she is on the winning team, the Republican winning team. As long as that woman is in politics there is no way the vulgar mean spirited dirt digging leftwing media is going to leave a stone unturned. AND SHE KNOWS IT.
As far as the book deal I hope she tours all over the lower fortyeight filling the bookstores with excited fans. I hope it shoots to the top of the best sellers list and stays there long enough to make back the half a million that she has paid in legal fees defending herself against the crap lawsuits the leftards have filed against her and funds her run for the president. Printing press will be busy printing something besides the money Obama is spending, the book store will be hiring more staff. Gee Oldtimer Maybe it will become known as Sarah's stimulus package it has as big of a chance as Obama's pork filled plan for improving the US economy.
Just to add if you had bothered to listen to what Sarah said instead of the leftards I think you would have realized Sarah wasn't frustrated with being the governor of the great state of Alaska she was frustrated that her and her staff at the governors office that is suppose to run Alaska were to busy defending her against stupid lawsuits to DO THEIR JOBS. And she was frustrated by the millions being spent on these stupid lawsuits that could have benefited the State in alot better ways.
Funny thing is all of you just wanted her to go back to Alaska shut up and do her job and stay out of the media. But when she tried guess who made her job impossible to do? THE LEFTARDS that feared she might try come back out of Alaska and run again in 2012. Well guess what she is out of Alaska but she is not out of politic. Watch for the discrediting crap articles to be racketed up now. And I'm sure Oldtimer you will be posting every hate filled one you find.

| All Palin is now is a quitter. She doesn't look very tough or Presidential now. When the going got tough she quit. Being governor for two and a half years the last which was spent almost entirely out of state was just too much for her.

Sarah Palin is a quitter. She can make all the excuses she wants. She, her staff, her supporters can all call her a fighter, but the FACT is she quit on the people of Alaska. She's walking off the job she was elected to do. I've really enjoyed Ed Rollins' comments about her since the announcement.
If you just listened to the statement and didn't actually read it, here's the link to her official website. She wrote the speech herself. Amazing that anyone would consider this woman ready to hold any kind of public office, much less President of the United States.

BTW, she wrongly attributes her final quote to MacArthur. But Major General Oliver P. Smith, commander of the 1st Marine Division, is the source of the quote during the Korean War. MacArthur may have used it somewhere, too, but Smith is the acknowledged source by most historians.
But, hey, you don't expect the truth or accuracy from Sarah, do you?

And, yes, there are rumors that she's under Federal investigation for using building materials bought for the Wasilla sports complex in her new house. We'll see if those pan out.
