Ed Thomas, high school football coach @ Aplington-Parkersburg was murdered this morning in front of several players inside the school's weight room. Thomas was one of the winningest head coaches in Iowa high school history.

As you may recall, the Aplington-Parkersburg area was nearly wiped off the map last spring following an EF5 tornado.

AP has put several kids into the NFL and Thomas a few years ago was the NFL's high school coach of the year.

The accused shooter was just found guilty of 1st degree murder. His lawyers were pleading not guility by reason of insanity.

Iowa is a no capital punishment state.
