It's raining this morning, so it's a good time to post a few pictures.

Color on the hills

Yucca bouquet

Soapweeds on the hillside

Going down the draw

Working on a windmill last week

High in the sky

Single mice

Hungry hay waddie

Peach mowing hay

Clearing the bars

Hollering 'whoa'

Enjoying a cocktail before dinner

Cattle on a hot day

Basking on the beach

Boys bellied up to the bunk

One of the male escorts

Looks like rain coming.....but it didn't. Sad

Looking across the meadow

Bay haling outfit

The hole in the sky where the rain went right on by.

Thanks, MsSage. Most of our calves are born in the month of March, so that is probably when the four were born that were "bellied up to the bunk." We hope they hit the scales fairly well in October, which is the normal time that we sell our calves.

Soapweed, could you take a few more pictures of your mowing machine?
Haven't seen one like that and like the idea.

Thanks in advance.

Soapweed-

Well done pictures!

Would you please give me an honest analysis of your male escort?

Thanks

The bull is just a rugged ranch-type bull. He is not show caliber by any stretch of the imagination, but his offspring will probably taste good. He is maybe taller than necessary, and not as thick as I would like. He has good legs and feet that allow him to travel well in a big pasture. The bull has ample bone and muscle, but not so much as to cause calving problems for his offspring.

This bull is one of 34 commercial yearling bulls that I bought off of one ranch this spring. He is just an average bull of the bunch. Most of these were born in April of 2007. The ranch that I bought these from raises reputation cattle, and they feed out to finish most of their cattle. The owner saved about the same number of bulls for their own ranch to use. He ultra-sounded the bulls before deciding which ones to keep for himself. He went "by the numbers" before keeping bulls for his own use. I went on "eye appeal" in picking mine. After his bulls were separate from my bulls, he told me he liked mine the best. Of course, this gentleman is also a mighty good salesman. Wink This is the third year I've bought bulls from this ranch, and I testify to being a satisfied customer.

Man, Soapweed, look at the size of those calves. Shocked

In your spare time why don't you get them in and weigh them? Wink

Great photos, thanks again!
