Started early with a great sunrise! God is sure good at painting!

Went 40 miles north to a pasture with great grass
but less water every day. Ready to unload.

That Honda Rancher has 10640 miles and runs like new.
Toted the trough, pipe and 3 salt blocks to mountain pasture.

Dodge truck... $35000, 4 wheeler... $5000, trough,pipe,connectors...
$500, seein' cold, clear water for thirsty bovines... priceless!

Ridin' my Sorrel mare "Reba" gatherin' to go higher. Still good grass but no water.

Headin' for the new H2o across a sage flat.

Through the oakbrush... a lot like petting a porkypine!
A great reason for chinks and other armor.

Chasing down the dust. In this country water is King!
I'll admit to pondering a quick bath! Very Happy This cow has had two calves with birth weights at 97lbs unassisted. And they look like linebackers in the fall. Wish she was darker complected! Wink

Giving the help a break too!

There are days I'm tired of the wind but it does us a great favor supplying water to the cattle.

Wouldn't life be perfect if we all had enuff grass,,hay,,,and water? But then what would we have to talk about with our neighbors??lol Razz Fun pictures thanks..someday I'm gonna get to Utah,,sure is pretty country.

Yup there are actually three holstein steer calves in the bunch. We had a wonderful calving blizzard during the last half of our heifers and lost three calves. So they are grafts and sure look better than a dry heifer or getting rid of a promising young cow. It wasn't there fault they lost their calves. We had to attend a funeral and they calved un-attended in 45 MPH wind and snow and around zero degrees.

Come on out.... but bring a saddle and we'll put ya to work! We sure love living here. With the high mountains, desert, canyon lands, national parks and rural areas it is diverse and pretty. But i'll swap out Salt lake and the metro areas every time. I'll try to post pics when i can but don't go excpecting me to be as good as soapweed in that department! Laughing

Thanks for the invitation...in fact I'm leaving for a week to go out to Dubois WY to visit my kid, and this ole sandhills gal is gonna get her first taste of riding in the Mts. and rocks...My kid tells me of places that you have to get off on the right side, cause the left side is a drop off...He said it was kindof scary the first time for him too, but the horses know how to handle those kind of situations and ya just got to trust em...I know my sandhills horse would probably fall off the first cliff! So if I can survive my adventures..I'll be ready to hit Utah!lol Wink

Thanks for the pictures. And as for Reba, she is that stunning sorrell color with the red mane and tail. You don't see many of them and they are
striking!! I'm glad she's a good 'un.

I had an old cowboy/horseman tell me once that he'd rather ride a good horse as watch someone else ride one. Razz

Looks like you are enjoying the good life. You experienced a "working vacation" in scenic Hawaii, and can experience an equally scenic working vacation right in your home state of Utah. You are a lucky man. Thanks for the pictures.

I have been enjoying the pictures and was wondering what make of saddle you ride and is that a modified association tree?

I asked gcreek the same question. I really enjoy seeing what other ride. Smile
