So that makes kind of a personal dilema for you doesn't it, Kola? Won't it now be hard to know whether to vote for your lady, Hillary, or Obama with Cousin John? Guess you could always solve the dilema and vote for John McCain. |
I shall respond to your ' dig' in a proper way.
Does not make it hard for me at all. As I've always said I prefer Hillary...but I have no qualm with Obama. If John sees him as the choice, I trust his judgement and so be it.
I think the US ( and the world) has become tired of 2 things....The Bush Clan and the Clinton Clan, for different reasons
I think this is the GREATER momentum behind the Obama Wave right now. The voters are tired of them, Bush & Clinton, et al, as for most of us....one or the other has been President for the majority of our lives.
As far as McCain goes. I'm sure he's a polite man but he's too much like Bush as I see it. He's just more of the same. He waggles back and forth on issues and by that fact alone, it surprises me of your devotion to him.
One example, he stated that he wanted troops ( of some degree) in Iraq for the next 100 yrs probably but today he'll give a speech on a " what if I was President" platform and tell how he will start withdrawing troops in his first term. He's all for supporting the troops but against a bill to offer them free education upon their completion of 3 yrs of military service. He says we can't afford it??? We spend MILLIONS a day on the war. This makes no sense whatsoever.
Every parent you ask will tell you that they could not afford to loose their child either. That money is the factor in that bill...that alone tells you what is at the center of the Rep heart , a $$$$ sign. Millions that can not be accounted for that was bagged and shipped to Iraq and we can't AFFORD something for the Vets' of this quagmire!!! Every parent of a soldier should be pissedoff about that...and loudly claim it.
As far as my voting for McCain...no way in hell!!! If the Rep's had another candicate other than McCain...I might consider them. I DO NOT follow the mantra of a Political Party and am not devoted to them by the party symbol in front of their name.
I know change is a scary word in Nebraska.....it puts fear in the soul....but the world is ready for a change.
Yes I said WORLD...as we are seen as the leader of the Free World...we need to change horses and bloodlines in this pony race of politics.

You do bring out some good points, Kola. If you think I am a strong McCain supporter, you are wrong. I don't like McCain, and I don't like Bush. The other fact is that I like Hillary, Obama, Gore, John Kerry, and even your cousin John Edwards even less. They might be okay people, but their liberal views will only serve to get us in more trouble. Bush and McCain are too liberal to suit me, but the Democrats in the race are even way more liberal.
We do need to change horses and bloodlines in this pony race of politics. We just need to get some genuine conservative bloodlines and change the bloodlines that way instead of going the liberal route.
For the record, I voted for Ron Paul in the Nebraska primary held this past Tuesday, not that the results of Nebraska's primary mean anything in the big scheme of things. If the present three are still in the Presidential race though, come fall, I will have to vote for McCain. He is still the least of the three evils.

Kola "I know change is a scary word in Nebraska.....it puts fear in the soul....but the world is ready for a change. "
Seems to me that every other politician for as long as I can remember has ran on "Change" - and nothing ever is changed. Now, Barry-O is singing the same old song. Tell me, what exactly is he going to change? How is he going to do it? How about more than an overused slogan?

I am all for free education for anyone that wants it and especially the troops. But in reality a President has to look at the cost of things. In many ways he has to be able to separate emotion for fiscal reality on issues. Otherwise a person could get caught up in offering social programs left and right, much like the Liberals try to do.
Personally I am not very read on this issue and have no idea if the money could really be there or if the current education support the troops get is about as good as America can do financially.
I do know it is not just a decision a President should make on a it feels good and sounds good whim. Just like a good parent, a good President has to be able to say no sometimes as much as he would like to say yes. Those decisions are what make a good President.
