Hey Chocolate, I'd like it a whole better if yall had said smartass instead of dumbass........that's more my style
I really have a thing against quick fixs & shortcuts. Thats all I was tryin to say.
As far as the ruckus over "pasture bred cow ponies", you stepped in that pile all by your lonesome. Like Yancuk showed, ranch horses can have alota background, with or without the trophies. Babcock, 6666, Pitzer, Hitch, Sandhill & so on, had been breeding working ranch horses for quite some time. Some go to ranch work,some go to the show pen, but they're still ranch horses. Folks like Leanin-H, BMR, Yanuck have a need for honest pony that's there everyday. Some care about the background, some don't. Its whatever works for them.
Gettin windy here, but really wasn't lookin to get into a pissin-match, just a discussion. After 30+ years, I thought I might have alittle to offer......... (I'll take a breathe here & go back out to the barn......)

[Faster horses]

If horses have a 'high head' problem, it's a people problem caused by poor hands.

Fix your hands and you won't need gimmicks. And the basics will always be there. I know lots of hands that do everything with their horses (in an arena and out) that never put a tie-down on their horses. I've always kinda thought a tie-down in an arena might save the day, but never outside. I sure hate to see a horse with their head on upside down. Watch the rider, he usually has 'QUICK HANDS' and does things way too fast.

I'm with HOOKS, BMR, Leanin H and Mrs. Greg on this one.

Not saying you can't "Git 'er Done" Chocolab, but horses need to be 'taught' how to do something, not MADE to do it. Gotta go to kindergarten before 6th grade...Sure it might take some longer in the beginning but the end result is worth it.

P.S. Hooks--daughters grey horse brought $4500 at the Ranch Horse Sale. (very nice headset, I might add...)

and the other colt they sold brought the same. They had to scratch the roan horse as he came back from being rode...way too thin. Those darn guys who use them and don't feed them make me SICK. I'd never take another one to that guy if I were them. Why they want to ride a horse that doesn't feel good is beyond me. Guess they are scared of them so they are afraid to feed 'em. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Oh, they were very happy with what the horses brought. They were the top selling horses in the 'green' catagory. She said this was the second year for that particular sale and it went well. The offering throughout the sale was truly 'Ranch Horses' and represented honestly. It is Invitational so not everyone can consign a horse, which keeps the honest folks in the sale.
