Just wondering if anyone has some sites bookmarked dealing with dry conditions and up to -40 winters (zone 2). I've got my plants narrowed down (prickly pear/pin cushion cactus ...LOL) but would appreciate sites with lots of pictures / ideas.

It sounds like difficult conditions in which to garden. The above site has some pictures and also so other click on articles.
Have you tried going to Google, type in xeriscape or xeriscaping and click IMAGES in the header. That usually gives lots of pictures and might work for your interests though I've not tried using that word. That is my favorite site to look up a plant by name. Let me know if you find something interesting. We have one dry dirt pile I don't know what to do with and would rather plant it than move the dirt Very Happy .

Thanks nr - never even thought to use the image feature Embarassed
I did find a couple of nice ideas .... and I'm sure there are lots more out there yet!

And thanks SASH for your help and suggestions also - might get a nice setting for the wedding yet!

Connie you gotta be one of the hardest workers going I thought your yard looked pretty good when I stopped by. I think were almost ready to tentatively declare the drought almost over-maybe- up here-nothing like 8 inches of rain to make a guy think he knows how to manage grass. You better come up and have a look at the stud we leased-we'll be down to the bucking horse sale in a few years-watch out then lol.

There is alot of info out there on Xeriscaping (low water use landscaping).
The Oldman River Basin Group in Alberta was working on a project at a school in Lethbridge. They should have lots of pictures and information available. The garden was geared towards a semi-arid area and I believe had mostly native plants.

Have you thought about using Shrubby Cinquefoil trans planted from the pasture or do you have and upright Juniper. They have worked for us.
