Seeing some of the new foals makes me smile and sad at the same time. We use to raise some pretty good ones but have been out of the business now for three years as the market is so bad. I actually gave some away. We heard that a few weeks ago they were bringing all lots into the auction ring and it was $15 your choice. It's really sad. We only have two now and admittedly don't use them much. I posted some pictures on the gallery for those that might want to take a look see.

I think it's time people start to spay their mares and geld their stud's.Everyone with a backyard has a couple mares and a stud. Those foal's are cute but they just grow up to reproduce more animals with no value.

Amen to that !!! You can't get people to spay their dogs, they sure won't spend the money to have a mare fixed. Everyone thinks they've got the next big stud horse, trouble is there's 100 more out there, just as good. Then there's the backyard breeder, who just wants to breed ol" maggie and get a colt out of her. You can't tell them that they could buy a lot better horse than they could ever raise, and a whole lot cheaper!! Oh boy, thats one of my soapbox issues, for sure, so I'll step down now.

Oh, and I just love this one, spoken all to much:

"Well, this mare isn't nice to ride (has a nasty disposition, etc), so
we'll just raise colts with her."

Why Breed "nasty dispositions"
That makes you part of the trouble.

Studs are a 10¢ a dozen - a knife could make some good horses [/code]

I sure 'nough get the point here, because too many horses is part of the problem, but so many times the ones with "attitude" make the best horses. I'll admit that a cowboy needs to ride them.
