Help my horse has two brands how do I find out more about them. He's a 9ish y/o QH Gelding really pretty. Chestnut/Sorrel with blaze right front, hind, and left hind sock. On his left front leg he has a bit which is suppose to be the brand of the ranch he was bred at, and on his right hind its suppose to mark the specific herd he came from, the sire, dam. Its all capitals, from right to left its: a weird backwards "E", regular "S", and a regular "C" with what looks like a lariat coming off the bottom going up towards the right, with a cowboy had on top of that. I don't know what state he came from originally all I know is he use to be a team penner, and he's been to a lot of auctions, and ended up in NY at an old horse dealer where I bought him. If you have any info plz help

Here's a site that might help you. You can look up horse brands.

thanks for the help. I'll try to get some pictures of his brands to see if you guys can help. w/o a pic the best i can show you is this " -) S ( " but at the end it looks like a lariat coming off the bottom going up and to the right and possibly a cowboy hat over that all by its self

You gave a good detailed description, I'll see Jeff at the US roping this weekend and ask about him. Your pony sounds like he may have western origin. Most horses they send to NJ are big - like >16 hands.

He's definately big, prolly 16h, and he has a huge stocky body to go with it. He's good with my dad's cows and can turn on a dime. He can't really go too awful fast ( i think its because of him not having proper hoof care and his feet hurting him). He responds really good w/ leg and seat. i ride him in just a rope halter.
