| The 4th of July is a great day to have a birthday. Our daughter shares her birthday with that of our nation. We are in Wisconsin sharing this special day with her this week. Shorthorn Guy, we were by your place on the way to Northland Bible College to take part in the Freedom Celebration there (were slowed by a blown radiator hose, so no time to stop & say howdy). A great display of fireworks with a live band playing patriotic songs as a backdrop. While we celebrated, our youngest daughter was working. Many sacrifices at home and abroad have allowed us to celebrate our freedoms. Our nation is a great nation only because God has blessed us and made us so. This country was founded on Godly principles and by Godly men. It is a rich heritage that we have, and ought not be taken lightly. Our country is worth fighting for, and God bless the ones who do so. Our most precious freedom -freedom from sin- was won by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and ought not be lightly esteemed either. If He died for us, certainly we ought to live for Him!!! Do have yourselves a mighty good Sunday mornin', and fine rest of the week too.

| Every Sunday morning the first thing I do is read your post before getting ready for Church. I always agree with what you say and especially this morning about our great Nation. I am afraid we take the greatness of our Nation for granted and as a result She is sliping a little. I am concerned that there are too many pulling Her down instead of holding Her up. We need to pray and take the right actions so that our kids and grandkids with enjoy living in the same great Nation we have.

Shortgrass, thank you for the reminder that freedom is not free. The worldy freedoms we enjoy as US citizens have been paid for over the years with the blood of patriots. And even more importantly, our eternal spiritual freedom has been won by the Blood of our Savior.
Today I look forward to meeting our new pastor who is a native of Poland. After decades of Soviet domination following WWII the citizens of the former Soviet Bloc countries know what it's like to live without freedom. I hope we in America may never take the freedoms we have for granted.

| Thanks Shortgrass, efb, and John SD, for the reminders of why we are privileged to live in such a great country. Our founding fathers knew that their Founding Father had given them the responsibility to set up a workable form of government to rule the new country. The United States of America has flourished and been blessed because God has always been put first. We need to continue to bless God and try our utmost to do His will, if we expect Him to continue to bless this great nation.
