So how much moisture did you lucky southern folks get out of your snow? NM, TX, etc.

I bet it has already warmed up, and snowbanks will be a memory before too long.

We had between 10" and 12" here, just depended on where you went. More closer to the Canadian river and south of us. Most of it started melting as soon as it hit the ground. Right now I have 3" to 4" on the ground and mud underneath that does not stop. This afternoon I barely made it down the road to the pasture to check. This snow had lots of mosture in it, maybe we will have some green grass this spring instead of waiting till the summer rains start. Smile

I remember first Friday of April, 1996. We had moved back calving of our main herd to peak around the first week of April. It started snowing late that afternoon...

I did my normal night calving, from 12:00 to 4:00 am, the snow flakes were HUGE, the wind blowing SO HARD and of course, blowing horizontally, snow accumulation 2 ft deep. Cows were bunched up near the corrals to get out of the wind...brand new baby calves wandering around outside the bunch...had NO CLUE who they belonged to...this kept on for 2 weeks, grabbed what live calves we found and put them in the warm box and spent the rest of the time feeding and trying to figure out who was the mother...we didn't find ALL the calves until all the snow melted...what a wreck. We have been fall calving ever since. We must have jinxed things because it quit raining/snowing since then. Crying or Very sad I just hope we get some moisture and quickly. The sad part of this story is, that we were probably the only ones who had to put up with the snow. 10 miles down the road our neighbors had NOTHING!!! Neighbors saw my spouse in the ranch pickup with all the snow on it and wondered where the he@@ we came from!!!! The weather out here is soooo spotty... sure could have used some help at our place at that time...
