[quote="kolanuraven"]I'm a liberal.....didn't know we were taking a head count! But that's not a news flash to anyone!! I'm a freethinker...I make my own decisions and I'm not a fan of " group think" and I don't go along party lines even if I think it's wrong...just for the sake of the " party". Ok...maybe that 's not being a ' team player'...so be it.

Clap

Actually I think this all started with BBJ wanting the liberals to make a list of themselves.

CattleRMe your exactly right, now lets go back and take a head count as to how many signed up. For those that had to come on this thread and tell us they are moderates was not the info I was after.

Kind of appears to me like they were not only trying to convince others but maybe themselves as well. Wink

I got in on the thread in the middle.....I'd been on the list earlier. Nothing for anyone to gloat over...it's just differences between you and me....makes the world go around .....instead of being lop sided to the right all the time!!!

I think the vast majority of folks on this board can think for themselves, kola. (though i will say there are one or two who remind me of a little terrier, yapping along trying to keep up with the big dogs. Laughing )

But thinking for oneself doesn't really have anything to do with either liberalism, conservatism, libertarianism, or any other political ideology.

Well I will agree, particularly amongst the neo-cons of the group, there do seem to be people who think everyone on the same side has to think the same things.
But really conservatives don't have the corner on that. My brother and his wife live in Boston and she's made the same complaint about liberals. Wink (BTW, I think you're entirely too anxious to shoot at people to be a good liberal. Laughing )

It seems like some folks in the conservative camp (not all) defer having beliefs whatsoever. If GW opines it or does it, it is Gospel. Regardless of whether it is politically motivated by considerations that the person would reject if they were explained to the person (such as Dubai Ports).

They're ALL politicians and most of them have some decent motivations and some "earn money for the party, extend the coattails, enrich myself and my friends" motivations. That's the way it is folks. As citizens, we have to form our own opinions. We cannot JUST agree with a particular "rebbe" like my sister-in-law...

Absolutely, Kola spends too much on shoes, loves firearms and ranching WAY too much to be a good liberal. That's what's amusing about the liberal label and the way it's applied in this forum. Most of us "liberals" are considered very conservative by our children's generation and by the liberal Congress people. My liberal friends think I'm a bourgeois tool sell out. My conservative friends think I'm too liberal. I would say I'm over the liberal line on the spectrum but not that far over. Yet here I'm labeled part of the lunatic leftwing fringe (or whatever the bullseye cartoon says). Go figure.
