When I worked on the Moose Head Ranch as a dude wrangler in 1970, the old head wrangler was Dogie Weaver. He summed up some of his long-time observations made after a lifetime of plying his trade. He said that when a family from the city first arrived, everyone would head for the corrals to see the horses. The next morning the whole family would saddle up and ride. The second day the ladies and girls would be back, and they would ride pretty much every day they were there. The men and boys though, would rather go fishing or float down the Snake River. Dogie said most of the girls were horse lovers at heart, but once in a while a boy would come along that would put the horse loving girls to shame for being an equine addict.

Folks, I've had a lot of stuff said about me over the years! Some of it was grossly untrue and others were well deserved while still mildly painful! But my sweet, beautiful, intelligent, kind, loving companion might have just finally put to words what most poeple think, but are too polite to vocalize!
Thanks Mrs. H? |
Like Drego says on McClintok: "I got the kind of manners that don't keep me from sayin' so" or something like that!
Besides, going tack shopping is kind of hot!

You just never no when you might have a need for something do you H? Last time we moved we had a 28ft trailer full of horses and the tack room in our own trailer full to the brim with saddles and tack. Sparky put bridle hooks in the tack room for me and made the comment that there was enough of them that I would never fill them up, he had no idea. You just can't ever have too much tack. I am starting to find out that you can have too many horses though.

Yeah, you can never have too much tack, unless you're trying to get a good western saddle, and you have a bunch of english tack (that you never use), setting around not selling!
To tell you the truth, I currently don't even have a western saddle of my own...not even a bridle!
But, since I don't have to do any real cattle work, the lack of tack doesn't bother me the slightest (just hurts my pride), I ride bareback.
I'm incurably infected by this wonderful "amobacter equuii". ;)
