Several years ago we saw a video where these young guys
from Nebraska team roped on horses with no bridles. At the end
of each run they held their ropes up and did some great spins
under the rope. The horses were 3 years old and that was amazing
to see.


We bought a horse from our little friend from here who lives in
Oklahoma. She had done a lot of things on that horse without
a bridle. She could lope, stop, spin him with nothing on his head.
She was helping Mr. FH gather some cows one day and when they
unloaded from the trailer, Mr. FH had forgotten his bridle. She said,
"Ahhhh, you don't need a bridle. Just ride him without one." So he did.
He gathered the cows and trailed them home with no problem.
That was kinda neat.

I think rather than being broke, these horses are TRAINED. But
that's just my opinion.

I thought Grumpy was a swell little horse, too.

All horses are swell! When ya think about it, ya only need a bridle because its a tool for control. If you took your training further, that training would substitute for the bridle. Remember that the American Indian used a string looped around the bottom jaw in years past. I am a firm beleiver that you get out of an animal exactly what you put in! I tip my hat to ALL trainers who help reveal the full potential of one of God's most amazing creatures!

Did anyone notice that Texaco has a coon tail? That's what I look for
when buying a horse. Honestly, I've never seen a bad one.
And of course, that's not all I look for, but that is frosting on the cake.

We had an old horsetrader friend that was selling all his horses to move
to Austraila. In the catalog, I remember this:
"We have short horses for short people, we have tall horses for
tall people. We have horses that don't like to be rode, for people who
don't like to ride."

Also...Charmayne James made quite a run at the NFR one time when her bridle broke. I think she won the go round that night too.

I'll agree with you -Texaco is an awesome horse he gets to a calf pretty darn sudden.
