Wisconsin Calf Sale Nets $21,000 for R-CALF USA


Billings, MT ~ On Friday, February 11, more than 125 supporters gathered at Bloomington Livestock Exchange in Bloomington, WI raising more than $21,000 for R-CALF USA. This was the first R-CALF USA benefit sale to be held in Wisconsin, known for its dairy production, and only the second R-CALF USA sale to be held east of the Mississippi River.



Bloomington Livestock Exchange owners Kevin and Jim Kirschbaum hosted the sale and donated the black Angus steer for the rollover auction. “R-CALF is the only organization today who has stepped up to the plate to fight the USDA on the reopening of U.S. borders to Canadian cattle and beef. Wisconsin cattle producers want to do their part to help the effort. We’ve now reached a historical landmark in the cattle industry. R-CALF USA is taking the fight to the frontline for us,” said the Kirschbaums in a rousing pre-sale speech.



“We are excited to be able to help,” added Kevin Kirschbaum. “We want to support the litigation against USDA but we also know that there will be more issues confronting the cattle industry down the road.”



David Mathis, one of the sale organizers said, “After attending the R-CALF USA convention in Denver last month, I knew this was something I had to bring to Wisconsin. Producers from our area agree with the issues R-CALF is working on and they need the opportunity to show their support.”



R-CALF members, committee chairs and directors in attendance included Danni Beer, COOL Committee chairperson, South Dakota; Jerry Swartz, R-CALF USA Region VII director from Minnesota; and Korley Sears, Ainsworth Feedyards, Ainsworth, NE.



“We’re so pleased to be here in Wisconsin, and we’ve received such a warm welcome,” Beer told the group. “R-CALF USA is the fastest growing cattlemen’s organization in the nation, and it’s the only one that represents only U.S. cattle producers. R-CALF USA is working for you, to protect your interests. What you’re contributing here today is an investment in your future. We deeply appreciate the support.”

IF you are all so damned proud of R_calf, why do you all post as guests? Just a suggestion. I just met two R_CALFERS yesterday, one is a realtor and the other is a radio broadcaster, just afraid of losing a customer if they do not have all of the bases covered. Gee, total sum of cows between them is 000000000000.
