PETA’S BILLBOARD LINKING IMPOTENCE TO MEAT WON’T RISE IN SASKATOON

Ad Says Hardening of Arteries Can Lead to Softening of Vital Organ

For Immediate Release:
February 22, 200

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — Judging by Viagra sales, impotence is a national epidemic. That’s why it’s unfortunate that PETA’s new billboard—showing a man sitting up in bed next to his lover and peering down at himself with a look of utter frustration, along with the tagline "Eating Meat Got You Down? Go Vegetarian! Fight Impotence. GoVeg.com"—won’t be erected in Saskatoon. PETA hoped to run the billboard just in time for the Saskatchewan Meat Processors Association meeting this weekend, but the ad has been rejected by all Saskatoon advertisers.

The controversial ad aims to remind meat-eaters that what goes on in the kitchen has a lot to do with what goes on—or doesn’t—in the bedroom. The cholesterol in meat, eggs, and dairy products causes hardening of the arteries, slowing the flow of blood to all the organs, not just the heart.

In addition to alerting people to the hard fact that the growing problem of erectile dysfunction is linked to meat consumption, the ad reminds consumers in a light-hearted way that cows, chickens, and pigs shouldn’t be treated as "meat machines." On factory farms, sows are squeezed into tiny metal stalls that are barely larger than their bodies and kept constantly pregnant or nursing. Pigs’ tails are chopped off and their teeth are cut with pliers, and male pigs are castrated, without painkillers. Cows are branded, dehorned, and castrated, also without anaesthetics. Chickens are bred and drugged to grow so fast that their leg bones often splinter under their massive body weight. At slaughter, many are scalded alive in feather-removal tanks.

"PETA wants to turn clogged-up carnivores on to the wonders of ‘veggie Viagra’—vegetarian cooking—as an easy way to make the world a happier place for animals, as well as for lovers," says PETA Director of Vegan Outreach Bruce Friedrich. "A man who stuffs his belly full of dead pigs in the kitchen may just end up delivering dead wood in the bedroom."

A copy of the billboard follows. For more information, please visit GoVeg.com.

I believe that not eating meat has an affect on your body alright. But who wants to look like some pasty complexioned, undermuscled, androgenous freak ? I think if you looked like that, impotence would be the least of your problems because who'd want to sleep with you anyway?

we have not seen any of these in Billings, sorry they would not last long here. By the way, ED could be caused by not eating enough cholesterol. cholesterol is a precursor to TESTOSTERONE, ESTROGEN and every one of the hormones involved with sexual function. EAT BEEF

Mike, I love Bob Seger's music. One of my favorite lines is "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then" Wink (from Against the Wind)

Tim.

I liked it too. Some country singer used that line for the hook in a song not long ago.
I like the song "Shame on the Moon" by Seger. Is that a Rodney Crowell song?
