I want to be a cowboy (poem)

This was in the Rocky Mountain Rider. Written by Charles T. Tatum, Jr. Minot, ND. I liked it, so thought I would share:

I want to be a cowboy

I want to be a cowboy
Riding the range on my trusty horse.
Saving the wagon trains from bandits with my two pistols.
Falling asleep under the stars in the dessert.

I want to drive cattle a thousand miles.
Scare preachers by stomping into churches.
Wear a great big ten-gallon hat that I'll tip to the ladies.
Fall asleep in the arms of a dance hall girl.

I want to stand in Monument Valley.
A rifle slung over my shoulder.
The wind tries to blow my hat off my shoulder-length hair.
I fall asleep, but keep one eye open to danger.

I want to...but I can't.
My allergies would act up.
I sunburn easily and I am balding.
Horses hate me.
But I like falling asleep safe in bed with the one I love.
