I'd like to add a little more to this little get-together.

Now as for myself, I have no talent; but there sure is some talent evident on this board. So I think Jinglebob, Saddletramp, sw and a few others could maybe ENTERTAIN us a bit, if we can find a little spot.

Maybe the fairgrounds, or maybe 4 ACES has a room we could use.

I'll try and check it out; in the meantime EVERYONE check out what talent we have among us! A little cowboy poetry, a little jam session...what FUN!

And maybe we should absolutely BAN any talk of borders, R-Calf, COOL, etc. Remember we want to have a good time!

I will start a new topic under Coffee Shop called "Calling all talent" and please post yourself or someone you know that would entertain us!

UPDATE:
I'm going to post a running list of Definite Attendees and Trying to Be an Attendee to our get-together on the "sticky" post on three of the forums. There may be folks who could come if they could share a ride with someone fairly local to them.

You'll be happy to see the latest listing of attendees. Very Happy

Also, any updates to plans will appear on the "sticky" post and our cellphone number as the time nears in case anyone has a delay.

So the bottom line is that the "sticky"note will have the latest consolidated info, not this thread.

I just spoke with "4 Aces" Restaurant and we can get their private Boardroom which seats 14 (max) around a table. We have 12 signed up as definitely attending. I suppose if we have more sign up some of us can stand and eat or sit on somebody's lap! unless they have RULES. The lunch there costs $9.78/person (which includes the taxes, coffee/iced tea/water.)
They will waive the $150 room reservation fee if the order for food and drink comes to more than that. If 15 people show up we'll easily reach the $150.
(The regular restaurant has no reserved seating and the largest tables are for 6 people so that just won't work for this group.)
Gold Dust Restaurant has no reservations and the private room won't work.
Silverado Restaurant is supposed to return my call as is Deadwood Gulch Restaurant so we should have some word by Thurs.
P.S. When the Sales person asked what group it was and I said a group of ranchers there was a distinct silence on the other end of the phone.
Do you have a bad reputation out there!!!!??? heheehe. I had to laugh after hanging up wondering what she was muttering to her co-workers. Laughing Maybe that's why it's so hard getting a room? Idea Next time I'll tell them it is a luncheon for the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Just talked with Deadwood Gulch Resort Restaurant and they can give us a private room that holds up to 30 people with NO reservation fee. We can order off a full lunch or dinner menu that runs from $6-$18. Address is 1 mile south of Main St. Deadwood (304 Cliff Street is the actual address but he said there is no sign that says cliff street). It is across from Comfort Inn and a Fun Park, easy to spot on the highway he said. I'm thinking we might need to go with this place if our numbers are increasing. Any thoughts?

I think we should get the larger place. There might be more that will come at the last minute. Thanks nr for all your hard work in putting this together.

Today I spoke with Silverado Restaurant, a pleasant lady Rose Spears, who said they have a private room but require "a minimum of 25 to 20 people or almost 20 people". There is NO reservation fee for the room but she needs that number for good staffing purposes.
She was trying to give me all the flex she could. I told her I couldn't state exactly how many yet will be attending so the best I can do is call her back a few weeks in advance and HOPE they haven't given it away. The fallback position would be getting a table which would be only semi-private in some area of their large many-"roomed" diningroom. She was guessing it might not be a problem on a Thurs. at 1 PM to be "sort of separate". I like the idea of a private room much better. Their group meal rate sounded good: a primerib lunch buffet $7.44 which includes tax gratuity and bev. which saves $3 over the regular non-group price.

Please, does anyone know how good the food is at the Deadwood Gulch Resort??
Or could someone call a friend who would know? Help

I wouldn't get too excited about how good the food is, after all I don't think any of us are going for the meal, but the get together of all us wild and crazy folks who post here. I'm sure that any place you decide on will be fine.

I was in Deadwood yesterday for the Days of 76 steer tripping and drove right by the Comfort Inn. It's not hard to find, just take Hiway 385 south out of Deadwood. Deadwood is in a small, narrow, twisting valley and it's strung out quite a ways. But there are good road signs for the tourists and us "challenged" drivers!

I think a private room would be better and then if there is any picking and singing and poetry spouting, no one else will either have to suffer or enjoy said proceedings! Laughing

nr, why don't you make it easy on yourself and go with the Deadwood Gulch deal. It sounds the simplest. And I think the food is pretty darn good at any of those places; there is alot of competition there. If someone wants Prime Rib and it is not on the menu they can stick around and have it for supper.

I like the idea of a private room with no strings attached. No sense worrying about something you have no control over.

How's that?

OK, thank you JingleBob and Faster Horses. We'll go with Deadwood Gulch Resort. Also thanks for the route number and directions. I'll post that on the updated Sticky.
I was thinking it would be a good idea to have some cell phone numbers for folks to call in case they get delayed so they can at least catch up with some of the group should they happen to miss the 1PM meeting.
Will cell phones work in that area?
