Old Rifle Cartridge in Utah

I found this old Rifle Cartridge casing in Moab Utah while on my vacation out in the desert. I don't know much about guns or ammunition. But can anyone tell me how old it is or anything about it? Very Happy It is 1 1/2 inches long the butte is 1/4 in diameter and the numbers 3 and 94 are stamped onto the bottom of the cartridge casing. Oldwest99, I'm far from an expert but I enjoy trying to identify old cartridges.

This was an answer from our son:
"Sounds like an old military cartridge. Found something similar in the .50
class in Death Valley when we lived out there."
