Actually Denny- many days when I'm on here I do have a hard job- taking care of between 1-4 grandkids while their parents work...Oldtimers Day Care... Wink You want to come help change diapers Say what?

Its something my parents and my wifes parents did for us- their parents did before them- and I think it helped a lot in bringing up the kids, rather than going into a daycare or to a babysitter- so I decided when I retired I'd do the same for my kids which sometimes I think I shortchanged with all the time put in pursuing my career....
When I have just the older ones- I can take them with me when I'm doing something- but with the two little ones I'm more housebound...

One of the things thats so much more lacking in this country anymore that I believe is creating some of our problems is the involvement of family- much of which has been created by the scattering of the population in order to pursue their careers..
Some folks only get to see their Grandkids once or twice a year- I'm going to take advantage of the opportunity I got....
After spending a couple days a week helping look after my new grandson....whos got colic,I applaude you OT,cause that IS NOT an easy job....but boy it is rewarding.. Smile Good family values for sure!!!

The older ones are little problem and in a lot of ways help...They're getting to the age where they can help fencing, babsysitting, working cows and everything...

The little one is pretty easy too- as she's in the eat-sleep-poop age and spends a lot of time sleeping....

The 4 month old is something else tho-- she's one of those that don't want to miss anything- inherited her grandpas German bullheadedness- and really tests your patience... Rolling Eyes She's one of those that keeps going until she is such a crab- she has to be rassled down to take a nap- and rassled down to go to sleep at night...And I've had her this afternoon- and get her part of the night as grandma and the girls have a "doings" they want to attend.....

And your right- I wouldn't trade it for a million bucks... Wink

Actually the 4 month old loves to sit on my knee and watch tv or the computer monitor- especially gets chuckling good when I tell her stories about neurotic folks that can't figure out who they are and that are so paranoid they have to hide behind multiple identities Wink Laughing
She'll be typing for me in a month or two Wink

You are absolutely right OT!!! Grandmothers, Grandfathers,Aunts and Uncles had a little more authority (to administer discipline) and interest in their own relatives. It is sad Sad Sad how changing times have had some ill effects on the younger generation.

Some folks only get to see their Grandkids once or twice a year- I'm going to take advantage of the opportunity I got....

My hat is off to you Oldtimer, have a good day with all those grandkids! Smile
