Yep Maxine-- some folks don't want the bigger government- bigger federal bureaucracy- big national debt- drunken sailor spending that we've seen promoted by the Administration that has been in power the past 7 1/2 years... Wink

Used to be a time when the Republican Party supported the same beliefs-- then the neocons took control Sad Sad

Jesse Ventura was on

not sure what he is on,.. but any person who blames US for Sept 11 has a problem..

while Ventura has not only served his country in the Navy, and even tried politics,.. over the last few years he has really tarnished that service.. which didn't seem likely considering his prior behavior.. Rolling Eyes

Quote:
In 2005, Ventura repeatedly discussed leaving the United States. In September of 2005, Ventura announced on The Mike Malloy Show that he was leaving the U.S. In late October 2005, he went on the The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch and reiterated that he was leaving the U.S. due to, among other things, censorship. He has since moved to Baja California, Mexico.

adding in his views on September 11, and I question any one who would have him on...

maybe if Ron Paul (and you) want to be taken seriously he should stop hanging around with other kooks..

after Paul announced his counter convention (counter to the republican convention) why would any one want him to speak at the convention..

did it occur to you two, that Ron Paul's snub of the republicans might be the reason they didn't invite him?

OT if you planned a big BBQ a really big BBQ and gave every one four years notice and invites.. and at the last minute, a neighbor planned a little bbq over at his place on the same weekend.. would you let him drink all your beer after he finished off his?...

Probably not.. sure you'd make sure he he had something to eat.. and might even give him another beer.. but wouldn't you be a bit worried that now that his party was over and he was already drunk. that he might need a bit of watching so he didn't p*** all over your floor.. Rolling Eyes

Oh- I don't think its bothering Ron Paul-- he's spent his life following the rule of law and the Constitution- and not listening to the drumbeat that happens to be the fad of the day...

And just like Bob Dole and Newt have said- Paul agrees the Republican party is going to get a butt kicking this year like they've never seen before- and when they finally sit down and reorganize and get back on track- he hopes to play a big part in getting them back on track....

His following was shown by the number of votes he got in the more conservative and Libertarian areas of the country- and by the huge outpouring of donations he got from the military personnel (second only to Obama, now)..

Did you actually look at the audience in the Repub convention the last few days- it definitely looks like an OLD (and I mean Geritol old) white guys country club...My SIL and I were watching the closing- and he commented, thats the first black guy I've saw on the stage...Palins probably the first speaker they had under 50...Jon Stewart on the Daly Show was having a hayday with clips of the old fogies Thompson/Lieberman echoing all the problems of the country- making it out that just maybe- all these old fogies are the cause of all these problems Say what?

If the Repubs can't do something to bring in the younger generations (they've almost lost the last 2)- and some of the minorities they will never get themselves pulled back together...Just pandering to a far evangelical right wing- isn't going to win nationwide elections...Like the guy in the open mic said- its over-- those days are over..
Maybe Palin is the one that can start bringing in some of those younger voters- but I'm afraid her philosophies don't match with many...

I was wondering as I watched it if anyone else noticed the makeup of the audience at the RNC. I tell you, I bet Palin felt like a teenager there, I guess that is a plus for the Rep's though, at least in one respect.

At least the Rep convention doesn't look like the filming of an old "Tarzan" movie.

Complete with everything except the big black "boiling" pot. Surprised

Mike I wish you wouldn't bring up those old Tarzan movies especially the ones with Weissmiller. I have them all on CD. Sometimes I just don't understand you boys from Alabama. Laughing Laughing

Yep-- I hadn't even payed much attention to it until my SIL mentioned it- then got to looking- and it looked like the Old Fogies retirement home...I even mentioned the Republican colors should be red-white-blue- and silver grey... Wink Laughing

The Repubs are going to have to get away from some of their ancient stances like anti choice, anti-gay, anti- science, etc. and their federal government bedroom/schoolroom policing platform that promotes they live a holier than thou life than everyone else- and that government should make everyone live like they do -- or they will keep losing generations more of these young folks....
More and more younger folks think these are things the government- especially the federal government- should not be sticking their nose into...

And there are only 36 black delegates at the convention- which is a 78% drop from 2004- with the entire makeup of delegates being 93 percent white, Five percent are Hispanic, and two percent are African American- which doesn't match national population breakdowns- so its apparent they need to work on getting in minorities- because with our current immigration policy and with the current birth rates by race- minorities will be the majority in just the next couple of years....

And if they don't come around- I think they will get left behind....

How many did Ron Paul have? I bet that is another thing Ron was mad about, to many blacks at the Republican convention Wink

Kind of funny that you support Ron Paul and Obama all on the same message board, would think that would be a conflict of interest? Confused

I just oppose the party that has totally forgot what the Constitution and the rule of law this country was built on...

I could care less how many blacks or minorities are there (altho Pauls plan to close/secure the borders got a lot of support from latino citizens) or how many are at the Repub convention-- except that I think if the Repubs don't wake up-and evolve- they will go the way of the Dinosauers....

Bob Kerrey was a former Navy SEAL, Governor of Nebraska, US Senator, and 9/11 Commission member. He also lost part of a leg in Viet Nam. I think he's still an asshat. Military and elected service does not necessarliy give one a pass when it comes to credibility or leadership skills. The libs has been screaming the same thing for months.

Mike Johanns is a former Nebraska governor and former head of the USDA. Now he wants to be US Senator. The guy makes me wanna PUKE! I will more than likely vote for the Democrat, Scott Kleeb. I have also voted several times for Ben Nelson for Senator and, before him, Jim Exxon. Don't give me this crap about blindly following party lines.

Now, if you wanna have a discourse on rumen microbe populations, or why some men are sexually attracted to Asian women, or why I will never implement rotational grazing on my place, we can do that.

One thing you need to realize, aptly named one, is what you wrote about me will apply to some of your lib friends equally well. If you will stop providing such a target rich environment, and wise up, maybe the tone of my posts will change. Or, you could provide Mr. Gravlee some dough, and he could switch to phpBB version 3, which has ignore features, so you never have to read a post of mine again. Or, you could just grow some hide and deal with it. Have a nice day.
