Percentage of American blood by volume

While all you R-Calfers are all puffed out about getting COOL made into law you might want to remember who your friends are. (were?) Every barrel of oil that you import should have a label on indicating how much American blood was spilled getting it into your F350.
Iraq 13%
Iran 9%
Russia 5%
Canada 0%
You dumb asses import more oil from Canada than any other country on Earth.

Angus, do you realize how many of your customers already have COOL? Do you realize that YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT promised COOL on imported chicken?

You don't have to be a member of R-Calf to think like one. ''Greed works both ways.'' What does that mean? We know that your're greedy but how does that make us greedy? Your arguement is pathetic. Confused

Denny I know your not an R-Calfer but when you said "We couldn't buy it if you didn't want to sell it" works both ways. We are accused of selling cattle into the USA but we couldn't sell them if the USA didn't want to buy them. Guess trade is a two way street. Confused

I don't care where the beef comes from as long as it's safe and good.There are so few R-Calf members it is pathetic but everyone lumps all american's together.Put the products side byside on the shelf and let the consumer decide....I'm not scared to compete.Farmer's and Rancher's have been known to whine about everything I guess I'm not into Whineing if I don't like something I either do something about it or quit all together but I don't look for someone to save me from myself.

If your country men don't want to sell oil.lumber or beef don't but if you do label it and let the consumer decide.I am a firm believer in money talk's whoever can get the product on the store shelves the cheapest will sell the most if the products are equal quality.

As far as government decision's go the status quo is set by the urban areas more people = more votes..I bet it's the same in Canada.

Your right about the urban areas making the governments decisions. Not much political power in the rural areas any more.
All boxed beef from Canada is labeled when it goes south. I don't know what happen from the border on. Doesn't really make sense to me that a 500 pound calf that goes south to feed and puts on 800 pounds is not a product of the USA. Say what?

The label comes off when it hits the border because the big boys want the only title on the label to be "Tyson" or "Cargill", etc.... They want brand loyalty only. They want to be able to buy the cheapest beef from anywhere on the planet and ship it to anywhere on the planet with the customer knowing only one thing about that beef, that is is 'Tyson", "Cargill", etc.... That way, they squeeze producers worldwide, yet still charging consumers all the market will bear. They can take a much larger piece of that beef chain pie and producers get less. I repeat, PRODUCERS GET LESS.

Why any producer would not be fighting that system is beyond me. Just look at the relationship between Canada and the US; The basic rules of supply/demand dictate that if demand is constant and supply increases, prices will go down. When Candian beef is shipped down here and placed with US beef with no distinction, supply is increased. Any arguements yet? The questions I then have to ask Canadian producers that are against US COOL are;
What then has to happen to prices in the US?
Do prices in the US have a direct effect on Canadian prices?

BMR, "Tyson/Cargill Canada" ships whole loins to a "Tyson/Cargill USA" fab plant that cuts the loin into steaks..."further processing", which allows them to put a "Product of USA" label on the steaks. The steaks are then sold in the most lucrative market possible. They make a lot of money off you Canadians because they didn't pay you crap for your cattle. Because most of these steaks go into the H/R market, even with COOL, they will continue to make most of the money off your high quality product!!! Shocked

That's part of the "North American" beef industry. Works real well for producers, doesn't it? Now you don't have to wonder why the packers (and NCBA) are always pushing the "North American" notion.

If thats the case Trailer builder's better cry foul they make them in Mexico assemble axels and finish a few parts after they get here and they are a product of the USA...
