There have been several pm's and e-mail's sent to me about the goings on in this photo contest. Several folk that send in entries every week have mentioned that they will no longer enter the contest if it continues in this manner.
It seems that a couple registered members have added so many additonal user names that they have managed to fix the contest. They know who they are.
This contest was put here in an effort to have fun. There is no monetairy award, no fame or recognition involved in winning the ranchers.net weekly photo contest. IT WAS JUST FOR FUN!!!!!
Herein lies the problem, without a variety of posters to enter the contest...we have no contest. Because of the couple of registered users that have conspired to ruin the fun we were all haveing by rigging the contest with their alter egos, this week there will be no poll.
However, I have not discussed this in length with Faster Horses. But I only have 2 entries for this week. I will take entries for the fair and comedy contests both thru the 22nd. If the matter with these couple posters is resolved to everyone's satisfaction, I will run both polls for 3 days beginning the 23rd.
If not, I will no longer be part of the ranchers.net photo contest. FH will have to get someone else to post the pictures.
I was enjoying the contest and the stories I got when everyone entered their photos. Folks were proud of their photos and proud to share them. The contest allowed folks who normally wouldn't post picture to share their livelyhood, countryside, and critters with the rest of us. I for one apprecieate that and hope it can continue.

Now damn it y'all behave. I swear. Kids.

First, let me say cert that you and Faster Horses do an excellent job of keeping up with the contest. I know it is no easy task. I appreciate all you have done.
I am sick that there are those with more than one user name for the sake of "rigging" the contest...whoever you are, I pity you. If you can't be honest to yourself, who in the world can you be honest to???
I always tell kids I work with in youth livestock programs, that if you can't stand getting beat then don't enter. Heck if you're good enough to win, then you're good enough to lose too. I am sorry I even have to tell fellow ranchers.net family members this...actually kinda makes me sick.
I have entered a couple of contests, been first, worst, and in between. I don't do it to win, although it is nice when others like your picture. I do it because it's enjoyable to let others see some pictures I've taken, generally of our own stock or area. I am not nearly as talented or accomplished as Soapweed, Lilly, or many other ranchers.net family members with the camera...I greatly admire their talent. And, I don't seem to make it work to take pictures of our ranch routine, and so don't often post a picture in other forums.
There have been many great photos in this contest, and in all honesty, more often than not I end up voting for a photo other than mine because I like them better.
Again, thanks cert and FH, without you guys there would have been no contest
...And to whomever has many alias...I feel very sorry for you. Please don't ruin the contest for the rest of us.
Cheers---

| I too enjoyed the pictures. Hope things can be ironed out. I never in my wildest dreams gave it a thought that someone could be rigging the contest. Thanks for everyone posting pics and FH and cert for all your work.

| I'm wondering if Macon could make it where we could have only one name per computer..of course some would have two computers I guess.

I hate liars, cheats, and crooks of all kind-- but if it isn't doing anyone any harm, It really don't matter that much to me...Let them rig it- let them cheat...Most liars and cheats get outed in the end anyway...Ain't like its that important or that someones losing out on a weekly $10,000 award...I just like seeing the different pictures....
Its those cheater and liars that have to look themselves in the mirror everyday- and if their self esteem is so low they have to cheat to win a "no prize" photo contest, maybe we are keeping them one step above suicide....
