For those of you who always wanted to shoe horses for a living. Just check out the angle of this fellers back! And he ain't that big, either!

Good feller and a whale of a hand with a horse. sure gets them started nice and right.

And don't ask for his name, we all are keeping him busy! Wink Laughing

And it's also pretty easy to give yourself a "nail job", when your doing this part! Wink

Nice photos Jinglebob, I noticed you built your corrals outta suckerrods too. Only ya used crossties as posts. Can't beat them suckerrods for buildin a good sturdy fence.

I've taken pictures of our Farrier too. He's kinda a shy person, so I tried to only shoot when he wasn't lookin.

those are not my corrals. I pulled my stud from the mares and being as how I needed to get him to this guy for some more training, I took a couple of horses to get shod, in the front.

The place he's livin' on, is right on top of a knob on the north end of the breaks. He's got quite a view and lots of gentle(!) breezes! Wink Laughing

When he comes out of the corral on a colt he can go a long ways downhill and when he comes back, they have had plenty of time to think about where they been and what they did!

But that isn't to say he just puts hard rides on them. He can get more done in a few days in the corral, afoot, than most guys get done in 30 days. He's been doing this for a long time and is probably as good as anyone out there, at starting colts. He is the one who got to decide if my stud had a good enough mind to be kept a stud. If he say's they ain't got no mind, I listen. I've watched him grow up and am proud to know him!

Most people who are crazy over some of the more popular bloodlines, wouldn't want to hear what he would tell them about there favorites, from all of the ones he's had to deal with. Laughing

He likes nice horses and likes working with that kind, cuz he's had to deal with lots of the other kind, with no minds.

They have banned shod horses in the Cypress hills because of the fire danger for the time being.

My feller warned me not to go "startin' any fires", but he was grin'in when he said it! Very Happy

We don't have many rocks. Only reason I had them shod is that me and Jr will be going to the Artist ride and they always want you to ride up and down and back and forth across the river, pushing horses or cattle. Them river rocks, get a little hard on the horses hooves, after several days. And they pay us enough, that we try to keep them happy. Laughing

That is a fine looking horse and a tough job as far as I am concerned...
I reember watching th farier when I was a kid working on my Dad's TBs...Didn't seemlike a bad job when it was cool but when he was doing them in July or August man itlooked like a real bugger of a time..

Hard to get a farrier around here unless you have 4-5 horses to shod at once.. The one specialized horse vet has a shoeing day once everyother week in which the farrier comes to his place to do all the shoeing and foot work for the small time people...

One of these days I will have to worry about a farrier again but first I will need to find a horse, lol... Guess I ned to start looking before I can find one.
